Amount of nitrate
Green cultivates like spinach, salad and endive naturally contain nitrate. Nitrate is important for the nitrogen absorption from the ground. The amount of nitrate that is present in the plant is influenced by light, temperature and fertilizer. Nitrate norms are dependent on the harvest period.
Nitrate has to be determined with a separate analysis. Laboratorium Zeeuws-Vlaanderen can analyse nitrate with two different methods, depending on the purpose of the analysis. Normally nitrate is determined with use of spectrophotometry. When samples are being analysed for QS nitrate is determined with ionchromatography.
